I'm using a Sony TRV18 with Firewire to capture a clip from a VCR into Premiere 6.5. The clip looks fine on my t.v. and camcorder's screen but it's way too dark in Premiere. I haven't had this problem with other clips I've captured.

Any ideas?

Characteristics of computer and TV screens are very different in the way they reproduce images. See how the problem clip looks when output from Premiere to a TV before you go any further. I would expect you find that it looks normal on a TV and the 'problem' is one of computer screen settings and characteristics.

Some graphics card allow the video overlay to be adjusted independently of the rest of the display. This can be a useful way to get a better match between computer and TV of video images without affecting other activities.
