Capture Problem...

i can't get premiere to capture my video without creating horizontal bands across the image. Here is a screen shot:

i've tried to playing with the capture settings, but nothing seems to help. i'm using premiere pro 7.0 with a canon zr80. any help is much appreciated.

Dirty camera heads generate this sort of banding.

Do the bands show on your camera during replay?

If not, might be worth trying a capture using Scenalyzer Live (

= free try before buy with video watermark) and/or a different FireWire cable.

If you see the banding on the camera as well, then a head clean would be a good idea.

no, it's only on the computer... new camera, new tape, plays fine on the camera. that's why i'm stumped.

Very possibly it is in the cable or FireWire interface somewhere. If you can, try another camera and/or cable to narrow it down.
