Hi all,
I have a problem trying to capture lpt1 to a print file when printing form a DOS application to a network print file.
I am running win xp with Novell client 4.90sp2 attaching to netware 5.1 sp7
When I run the command capture /cr={mapped drive:\<filename>} I get the error capture 4.15-453.unable to create capture file in the specified directory

A member, Jock Mullin also experienced this problem and installed a workaround by setting up a dummy generic text only printer and sharing it so the user can net use lpt1 \\wsname\textprinter, which works fine.

I would appreciate some advice on how to set up this generic text only printer

Thanks in advance

Dave

Hi, Dave

To set up a generic/text only printer to print to disk:

-Start/Settings/Printers & Faxes
-Start the add printer wizard
-Click Next on first screen
-Select Local Printer/Next
-Use Following Port: select FILE /Next
-Manufacturer: Generic Model: Text only /Next
-Keep existing driver /Next
-Give the printer a name, default Y/N (your choice) /Next
-Give the printer a share name (short, no spec chars)/Next
-Print a test page: No /Next
-Click Finish on summary page.

That should do it.

Jock
