An Access program on my XP machine needs to be able write files to a folder on my Vista machine but I keep getting "access denied". I just spent the last 2 hours turning off ALL the security on the Vista machine that I could find. Still no luck and now my vista machine is open to everyone.
I'm a programmer and for the last 25 years have been setting up computers for individual and small businesses. I've never been this frustrated!
Can anyone help me?...Please!
thanks
Leon

Greg,
The Acces/SQL program works with various events and each event has it's own set of folders so the folder name is part of a variable.
I should addd that I've been able to use Explorer to map a drive letterto the Vista machine and I can read all the folder on vista but I just can't write to any of them either through a program or through Explorer.

Is there are Parent folder that will hold these folders you are trying to create?

Is your software program fully updated?

Installing and reinstalling Windows

Yes, there is. They will all be subfolders of "c:\ecback".
But I can't assign a "user" to take ownership of the folder because the need to write to the folder may come from any number of other computers...simultaneously!
In the mean time I'll take a look a your references...Thanks.

All my programs, includeing MS Access and SQL Server are set to automatically update.
As for reinstalling...the Vista is a new 64bit machine being used as a database server for SQL Server 2005.
