hi

i cant update the firmware on a C1200 Wireless acces point via http. its says "error:the software upgrade was interrupted and was not able to be completed". the file im trying to use is c1200-k9w7-tar.123-4.JA.tar and its from 12.2(13)JA4

im upgrading the firmware as WIFI connections to the AP were very slow.

I would suggest you use TFTP, I have upgraded a couple of AP's recently and used TFTP without any problems. It is possible the interuption is the result of network problems (and maybe why your WIFI connections are slow?) so it may be worth looking at the interface statistics of the FastEthernet interface to see if there are any problems?

If this is a silly question let me know.

Are you trying to update it over a WiFi connection or
a wired connection? You need to use a wired connection
to do updates.

its a wired connection. gonna try TFTP - do i use the built in windows TFTP service? if so where do i put the file to be uploaded?

thanks

John

Windows only has a built-in TFTP client - you need a TFTP server. Have a quick search, I generally use the 3Com 3CDaemon (please don't point out the vulnerabilities in this software, I know, but it is not an application that is left running). The release notes for the Wireless IOS detail how the upgrade is performed when using TFTP.

I just got the same error message - "The software upgrade was interrupted and was not able to be completed" on my AP. I was able to upgrade my other AP fine using HTTP. For some reason all I get are error messages with TFTP. I'm using the SolarWinds TFTP server. Any suggestions?

Have you figured this out yet? I am having the exact same problems.

i used tftpd32.exe and it worked fine.
