Hi I have created a couple of virtual directories in IIS 5.1. When I go back into the IIS console, I cannot see the virtual directories that I have created except for the IISHelp directory which is there by default. I can still work on the websites, but I cannot understand why I cannot see the virtual directories when I go into IIS. Can someone help?

Thanks

Hi all,

I have worked this one out for myself. If I right click on the default Website Icon in IIS and then create my virtual directory for whichever website I want to, the virtual directory for that website stays up in the IIS window. Instead of clicking on the website folder as it appears in IIS and creating the virtual directory from there. I do not know if this is an IIS 5.1 bug, it might be as you are meant to be able to create the virtual directories either way.

Thanks

Not a bug.
IIS has no way of registering the fact you have created a folder within the website structure.

The Virtual folders in IIS are more for limiting FTP access for individual users and sites as used by ISPs for virtual hosts ( rather than for structuring the internal folders of your website.
