Can't run ActiveX to validate OS

I tried to install SP2 for XP PRO, and MS update page said my Key Code was not valid. I when't to

http://www.howtotell.com

to run MS's software validator (activeX) and it will not run. I get the error "make sure you are running the right version OS Blah, blah, blah.

Anyone have this problem before?

Are you using IE to access the validator?

. Make sure your in Internet Options, Security, Custom Level, that you are permitting ActiveX controls to install and run. You can change the settings back later.

. Make sure your antivirus software and firewall software do not have ActiveX control blocking. You might need to disable them to use the validator.

I looked at the Thread779-730594 and found I have a pirated copy of WinXP, so I’ll report the person to MS police and buy a retail copy of XP. I knew the price was too good to be true.
