Ok I have this weird one.

I had placed a shortcut to the pin up menu. I felt that it isnt used that much now and I wanted to remove it. Used "unpin from menu" and "remove from this list" on the drop down menu to no avail.

Searched everywhere (registry, folder) cant find any leads to it. Deleted the shortcut its linked to..and it still remains in the pin-up with an ugly default icon!!

What gives? Any help is much appreciated.

Information is free....dont hog it!

If it is unpinned it will eventually be removed in the normal course of using the machine.

The problem is that the left panel of the Start Menu is stored in encrypted form in the registry and is not editable.

thanks for your post bcaster.
it been a month since I tried to remove that. no go.

encrypted registry area...oo, heavy! not really that keen to find out how to mess ard with that area.
