Hello,

I'm trying to remove a station in my definity and I'm prompted with an error saying messages exist for this extension.

I've never seen this when trying to remove a station, is there a way I can remove the station without removing the voice mail box? I have a request from the user to duplicate someone else's phone....so I figured the easiest was to remove the station and duplicate the other, then adjust the COR/COS if needed....

Any other options?

TIA,
Steve

The message indicates that there is a voice mail message waiting in the voice mail box of the station in question.

Two ways of clearing this is to go into the mailbox and remove the message, which in turn turns off the message notification on the switch for that station. Second, use the Clear AMW all <XXXX> where xxxx is the station number.

This command clears all message waiting indication for the particular station. Then remove the station.

Use status station to see if message waiting indication is turned on for that station.

that would be 'clear AMW all <extension>'
this just clears existing messages.
Removing a station does not remove the audix account.
(unless you use the DSA graphical interface, and tag the flag for this)

Netcon1,

Everyting seemed to work, but after running the Status station XXXX the MWI field is empty. Is that normal?

TIA,
Steve

That is an indication that you succeeded removing the messages for that station... :)
You should be able to remove the station now.

Cheers,
Nico

nknook,

I'm just trying to make sure the indicator will fire once there is a message.

TIA,
Steve

I tried clear amw all on my station and it only turned off the message lamp. The new message was still in the mailbox.

Hello Steve,

I'm not sure what you're trying to do, but if you have a voicemail message, the VM system will send out a notification (MWI) to Definity once for that message. So if you cleared it on Definity manually (wich normally happens when you've listened to the VM message, the VM system will do the clearing then), it will not have a MWI anymore untill a new VM message is left for that extension.

So even if the VM message is still unopened, there will be no MWI for that message untill a new one is left.

Cheers,
Nico

Hello Applepie,

When using this command, you only clear the notification (MWI), not the message itself. The message can only be deleted by the VM user (normally), after logging on to the VM system.

Cheers,
Nico

I'm just trying to confirm that I didn't change a setting for the extension by using the "clear MWI all XXXX" command.

In other words, when someone leaves a message in this user's mailbox from this point forward, will the MWI light up.

I'm assuming yes, but I'm just trying to cross my Ts and dot my is.

TIA,
Steve

"but I'm just trying to cross my Ts and dot my is."

??Err???!? I'm not as think as I smart I am, what do you mean by that ?? :)
But the answer is: yes, if another user leaves a (VM) message for that extension, the lamp will light up.

Cheers,
Nico

Thanks nknook.

It's an expression. I'm just trying to cross my Ts (Pronounced Tees) and dot my Is (pronounced eyes).

Sorry for the confustion and thanks for the explaination.

Steve
