Can't put text in the text box

I am trying to learn Quark Express 4.1 and I am doing a free tutorial on line.

My problem is that I draw a text back, the box is there, but I try to type in it, and nothing happens. Also the bar at the bottom doesn't have any icons, like font, bold, ect. It worked for me a few days eariler.

Did I click something to turn it off?

First, make sure it is a text box you are drawing; you probably know this, but make sure it's the tool with an "A" in a box.

Next, you need to make sure the "Content Tool" is selected (the one with the hand) rather than the "Item Tool" (the four arrows). It should work now...
