I cant get a RAD to accept the password to allow setup. The RAD led blinks to indicate communication with the MICS is OK. I press Feature 9 ** & am prompted for the password. I enter 723646 (RADMIN), the display reads *****6 and nothing happens.

The RAD I am using is a Nortel product NT8B80AAAF 0003 REL 01
If I use an older style RAD (NT8D80AK-93) I don't have a problem.

Does this new RAD have a different setup procedure? Any help would be appreciated.

I have an install booklet on this at the office. I will check and let you know. Jeter@LasVegas.com

1. Fast Rad passwords once installed at the first programming session are, according to the book, unrecoverable if forgotten.

2. If the Fast Rad has not been programmed before access in the normal way F9**. If the Fast Rad has not been programed previously, display will show 'Password'. If previously programmed the display shows 'Enter password'.
Passwords need to be 8 -10 digits long. (required). Many users of the old Rad will use a prefix like an area code before the old Radmin password.

Hope this helps

Kipperts:

The RAD takes a port, just the same as a station phone. If you query the system's Port/Station Status for its port or station number you should see it called out as, "RAD" whereas a phone might be something like, "7208."

There really are just a couple of setup options: password, auto-answer, line number to listen for rings, modem speed, number of rings.

Be aware, though, that it can be particular regarding the modem speed or other setting from your PC modem, along with Handshaking = None or X-On/Off.

Best,
Mike

Try for a password the full telephone number with area code from the original install, a lot of techs use this convention for passwords.

I have ran into this on many occaisions also. All you have to do is short out the "watchlike" internal battery for about 60 seconds to reset to default!

Works every time!

I have a backdoor to "de-bug" the RAD, as well.
That is good to know Rich. Thanks for the Tip!!! D. McCall
