hello all,

I have connected my laptop to the router with a crossover cable. I assigned ip 192.168.5.1 to e0 on router. I assigned 192.168.5.2 to my laptop. sh ip route shows that network 192.168.5.0 is directly connected.

From console i can ping router's e0. I also can ping router's e0 from my laptop.

However I can't ping my laptop (192.168.5.2) from router console..it times out...

do i need to enable any thing here?

thanks in advance

Are there any kind of access lists applied to int e0? If could be possible that there is a list blocking ICMP packets, which would be why you get a timeout. Just a thought.... It would e nice if you could post a copy of your running-config, just to see if you have anything missing.
