Trying to open regedit and I get this error.

Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access this item.

Check user account and it has Administrative rights and he is showing up as a member of Administrators in the Computer Management window.

I tried suggestions listed in the attached thread, but they did not work.

Suggestions Please and thankyou?!

First question,

Can you access the registry via a different user account on the machine?

My apologies for this being brief I'm just taking a break from creating a...erm...pain of an Access database.

I suspected possible malware and I also suspected that perhaps his user account has been corrupted.

I'm going to give this user a call and see if he can access the registry through another admin acct and if he can't then I definitely suspect malware.

I guess great minds DO think alike )

Wanted to let you all know what happened.

The user's profile was corrupted so we created a new profile and moved over his documents and then deleted his old profile and he's now able to open his registry editor.

Thanks for all your help fellow techies )
