I just used the Repair and Compact utility on a db and now when I try to open it I get nothing. No error message. Nada.

I can however, look into the database through a link in another db, and it looks like I last left it i.e. not corrupted or anything.

Suggestions anyone?

FYI, I have tried to import and open with Shift+click, to no avail.

Doesn't sound nice. There is a utility from Microsoft (JetComp) which is supposed to be able to do some more repairing than the inbuildt thingies (haven't tried it, so I can't say for sure). This link provides a lot of information on corruption Corrupt Microsoft Access MDBs FAQ, and the link "To retrieve your data" within it, links to several possibilities of recovery, among them, a link to JetComp download.

Only thing I'm sure of, is the need to backup, backup, backup before attempting anything (or fetch your latest backup, you do have one, don't you;-))

The Jetcomp utility from Microsoft works very well - much better than the bult-in versions.

Make sure to check the correct version of the Jet database (3.x or 4.x).

Thank you both. I could use an older backup, but in this case at least I can import through the already existing link. Weird.

It's really the lost queries that bother me.

Thanks again.
