any help would be appreciated.

I am a network technician for a local Government, I have seen this virus before but can't remember which one it is. It IS fixable. At the time, I knew the name of the virus, and was able to go to nortons web site and get the fix tool for it, and also look up info as to how to restore any corrupted files left behind from the virus.
If you tell me the name of the virus, i might be able to find some of the info i used.

I think it was subseven...i don't know.I tried using my virus scanner to get the name of it but i can't open norton cause it says "nav32.exe has been altered/changed." or something like that.I can't be 100% that it is sub seven.i think it is cause the person that sent it to me isn't a hacker really...i know him in real life.the knobend...

I don't want to have to go formatting my hard disk or anything liek that cause i have no way of backing up my files.

When i first got it - liek a week ago - i wasn't even even to open windows at all.I had to look thru my windows and system folder to see any files created that day and i deleted the trojan. It was called wininit.exe and was in my systems folder.then the trojan thingy is called mueexe.exe I went to a trojan remover site and it said not to delete it till you remove it from registry and win.ini and system.ini...It was a bit late for me lol i had to delete it to start windows

Could it have altice?? Sub7 is a backdoor trojan that allows someone with the client side software to take control of your system. My guess would be either Altice, Nimda or a form of Hybris.

Go to and download the fixes for all 3 virus. The fix won't screw anything up, just fix the screw-ups left by a virus. WMH

This sounds like the sircam virus. One quick way to find out is to boot to c:\ prompt
type in copy regedit.exe regedit.com <hit enter>
then type in start regedit.com
this will open your registry.
search for sirc32.exe or scam32.exe

If you find either then go to and download the removal tool and run it. You can remove it manual but there is alot to go through and it is easier with the removal tool.

Sorry! You don't boot to c:\ prompt, you do this from
Dos Prompt ie: start,programs,Dos Prompt

It's been sometime since I did this.

Thank you so much everyone that replied :)

Kento you got got it right :) I had the subseven virus as i suspected. That exefix08.com file worked and repaired the damage to my computer.Thank you so much.I appreciate it :)

All that's wrong with my comp now is the icons on .exe files that wouldn't open all have the windows logo on them but i can live with that.

Thanks again,
~Mark

k never mind what i said about the icons - they sorted themselves out somehow :D

Again, thanks so much
