Can't open a word document

I'm not sure I'm putting this in the correct forum...if not, sorry!

I have a large word document (4200kb) that I am unable to open. I was last in the document three days ago and there was nothing remiss. Today when I try to open it I get the following message:

The document name or path is not valid. Try these suggestions: check the file permission for the document or drive; Use the file open dialog box to locate the document.

It is named Survey Report.doc - the file type says Microsoft Word document. I tried opening it from explorer, through word, using find, copying and pasting it to a different drive, renaming it, renaming it after I moved it, sending it via e-mail and opening it from there. Nothing works.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I could do so I can access this document...I hate to think I might have to re-create it....it was several weeks of my time!!

Can you physically find the actual document on the harddrive? If so, right click>properties.. check file size, make sure it opens with Word, check the attributes. I view all files using complete path including extensions. If the file is there and its' size shows 4200kb and it is associated with Word, try copying to floppy and opening on another PC.

Yes - I can find it on our network drive....however, the size it shows under properties is different...it shows 4.12 MB...it is too big to fit on a floppy - I could zip it and try, though...but, I did go to a different computer and try to open it through the network drive - it didn't work...
