Can't map a win2000 workstation

Hello

I cannot map one of our win2000 WS. It's prompting for a password , which i enter correctly but it won't connect.
I think it's because the username on both PC's dont match up, as win95 wont give me a choice to enter 'administrator' then the password.

i've tried a DOS net use command ( net use f: \\10.50.50.$$\photo ). this then asks for the password, which i enter but it wont connect due to some read-only error on that folder??

also can you confirm if win95's net use syntax will allow the /user:administrator switch as this wont work either

the error i get in DOS is:

you do not currently have access to this file. the file may be marked read-only or it may be part of a shared resource such as a folder, a named pipe, a Q or a semephore. you can use the ATTRIB command to change the read only attribute, or try again.

PS: the mapping works fine on an NT workstation If in doubt get the Ball Pein Hammer out

This is probably down to user id/password you log onto win95 workstation with - you need a user set up on 2k machine with same credentials. Presume you must have on NT machine if it works.

do i only have to have the username added, say jbloggs on the w2k machine? I can't really put jbloggs and a password in place as the users have to change there password at least once every 30 days.

as it stands the w2k machine uses : administrator password
and on the win95 its jbloggs animal.

using these as examples what do i need to do.

Or you could enable the guest account on 2k machine (possible security risk if its connected to internet).

DO NOT enable the guest account!!! This is a HUGE security hole - especially if the W2000 machine is attached to the 'Net! After following wolluf's instructions, don't forget to specify what drives/sub-directories to share with the new user name. There's always a better way...
