Can't log in - just get reply "MNEMONIC"

Hello.

I can't log on to one of our systems. I'm using minicom (which is a free software alternative to procomm running on GNU/Linux-platforms).

This is what I get:

Try with CAPITAL letters.

the response "MNEMONIC" mist be from your software package, meridian does not respond to a failed logi with that at all.. if you syntex the switch you'll get

same response, just nortels way to do a spell checker

I use minicom all the time on numerous Nortel PBXs of different release levels-- and with no trouble.

Is minicom connecting vial a direct serial connection, or a modem? If it's direct serial, make sure that the modem init strings are empty. If it's connecting via modem, make sure the modem init string doesn't have any superfluous characters.

MNEMONIC is not a Nortel response (too much like a recognizable English word, not enough numbers in it.)

We have one old Meridian, dates back before Opt.81 (has a Omega-CPU) Rls.20 og 21, can't remember.
If I mistype when at loggin, and don't type LOGI but some other word or letter, it replies with MNEMONIC
Just CR gives the normal .
It also recuires capital letters to all responses in any Load's.
