Can't install trial SQL Server. It is "Blocked"

Originally had an issue and posted it in thread962-1254971.

Now I have uninstalled SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server Express and am trying to reinstall the Trial 2005 SQL Server so we can try it out. Mind you we still haven't even used it yet. Now we are getting a message that the components are already installed on the machine. Well, no they are not. I just uninstalled everything. Anyway I hit the details button and now see this error. What do I do about this now? It is a windows XP Pro system that meets all requirements.

Just an update. I was able continue the installation. Now just before I click ok to install, I see this message

The following components that you selected will not be changed:

Client Components


But I did check to install the client components. Maybe that is why I had my original problem of not having the Management Studio installed??

ok it gets worse. now I am getting this error during the installation....

Setup could not connect to the database service for server configuration. The error was:
[Microsoft][SQL Native Client]Encryption not supported on the client. Refer to server error

View Setup Log Files" in SQL Server Books Online.

Here is an excerp from the log file.... DO we just need to reinstall XP on this PC from scratch?
