can someone help i need to install .net framwork on this server

thanks

Hi

Did you ever find a solution to this problem as I have it happening on my Win2k SBS server

Thanks

I have the same problem

Have either of you installed any 3rd party apps recently to access email remotely ? Blackberry, zetalink etc ?

Paul

The Server is our IIs server, its SBS server. I does not have any software to access email!

Nothing of the sort has been installed, also the funny thing is cannot reomve apps

Check to see if Windows Installer service is running.

Doesn't something as large as .net framework require more than 500 meg free space? I had the same problem loading SAV 10 Corp edition, had about the same amount of space free, but I could not install the update. I had to cleanup the hard drive, move some files temporarily, then put them back on, a PITA. Someone didn't make the partion for our C: drive big enough.

Is it the .net framework you are trying to install? Are you doing it from a file on your server, or through Windows Update?

I checked the windows installer service and it was not running, but when i try to start it; it says "could not start the windows installer service on local computer

I had exactly the same problem, it turned out to be a problem with the powerchute software. if you have powerchute installed try booting in safe mode, stop and disable the APC Services and reboot. I think their is a software update but have not tried it here yet, my service are still disabled and everthing works OK.

i have have a problem it is hanging and the service is diasabled and wont let me change it

Certainly sounds like Powerchute, same thing happened to me.

Uninstall it from Add/Remove programs (this should work, even though windows installer hangs with other software...did for me anyway)

Go to APC.com and download Powerchute v7, reinstall it, reboot, sorted!

The problem is that the apc agent hangs on "starting" preventing other services from coming up.

Kill powerchute and you will be sorted.

It's a massive flaw to be honest, I bet APC have had some serious grief!

i have uninstalled it, and iam trying to re-install v7 but it just hange and does not respond when trying to add the service
