Hi,
I have 2 databases. One of which, I managed to do some weird security thing to, so I can't send my partner the database for him to look at and check over.

I managed to transfer over the tables and queries (using the import thing) but when I look at the import list, there are no forms there to import. And when I export the forms, they export over, but none of the buttons work as they should....something about networking etc.

Any quick help would be great
Thanks
Paul

If security is giving you a problem, why not give the user "Admin" full rights and the group "Users" full rights (at least until you get things imported like you want). (May only need to give group "Users" full rights.)

The other thing you could do is to export the forms, etc. to the other database. Only problem with this method is that you can only export one object at a time.

Thanks for such a quick reply

I don't seem to be able to do anything with the security thing. I have two users.....admin and user...they both are part of the groups admins and users.

I export the forms from the secured database to the one I'm trying to get it to, and now, it appears to work fine, but when I open the other database, it's not there.

Any help?

When I do manage to import a form, the following message crops up when I click on the buttons....

The expression On Click you entered as the property setting poduced the following error:
Error accessing file. Network connection may have been lost.

* The expression may not result in the name of the macro, the name of a user-defined function, or [Event Procedure].
* There may have been an error evaluation the function, event, or macro.

Confused me!

I would make a backup copy of both databases, then compact and repair the originals. See if that clears it up.

Once I set the hidden attibute of my forms and, months later, when I went to work on it, couldn't find my forms. Forgot I had done that. Just another thing to check.

Ok, I've not worked out that it's something to do with permissions. I have, basiacally, 3 files, my main mdb file and a link to the mdb file, and a mdw file? Something like that. I can't open the main mdb file directly, I have to go through this link, but I don't want to have to do that as the permissions seem to be set differently and I can't do alot.

How do I remove these permissions and get back my regular mdb file?

I'm just guessing. I don't fully understand your problem. And I'm not sure how much knowledge you have concerning this.

If you login and belong to the Admins group, then you can do what you want. The Admins group has Administer rights which means you can grant rights to anyone. Generally, I have a front-end database and a back-end database. I login to my front-end database and grant rights there. Then I open the back-end database and grant rights there.

If you give the group "Users" full access to the Database, table, forms, etc. then you should be able to open another database and import from the secured database. In fact, any user should be able to get into your database because it is now basically unprotected since the default user Admin is a member of the Users group (which you have granted full right to).

One thing you could do to solve the problem is to send your buddy all three files and add him/her as a user, granting him/her full rights. Then set up a shortcut for your database and set the short cut properties like this:

c:\...\msaccess.exe c:\...\YourFrontEndDatabase.mdb /wrkgrp c:\...\YourWorkgroupfile.mdw
