We have four possible outbound routes selectable by the user by pressing "6", "7", "8", or "9". When "8" is selected there is no Secondary Dialtone, just silence. You can hear the DTMF tones when the phone number is dialled, and the call routes as expected. The other routes give the Secondary Dialtone when the 6, 7, or 9 is pressed. Here are the configurations of each short code and route. There are no other short codes that begin with "8".

What have I missed or where else should I be looking?

As always, thanks for your observations and comments. Below is the configuration for each route.

Short code
6N Dial N LGID =(ARS 2)
ARS 2 Code
N; Dial N
Secondary Dial Tone checked and = "System Tone"
Receive dialtone when "6" is pressed
ARS routes out a T-1

Short code
7N Dial N LGID =(ARS 3)
ARS 3 Code
N; Dial N;"@123.45.67.89"
Secondary Dial Tone checked and = "System Tone"
Receive dialtone when "7" is pressed

Short code
9N Dial N LGID =(ARS 4)
ARS 4 Code
N; Dial N"@156.78.90.12"
Secondary Dial Tone checked and = "System Tone"
Receive dialtone when "9" is pressed

Short code
8N Dial N LGID =(ARS 1)(Main)
ARS 1 Code
N; Dial 5678N"@223.78.90.12"
Secondary Dial Tone checked and = "System Tone"
No dialtone when "8" is pressed
Calls go out as expected.
Can hear tones as digits are pressed after pressing"8"
No other short codes begin with "8

there is a checkmark in the ARS to provide secondary dialtone make sure it is checked on for your route "Main"

Westi,
Thanks for the quick reply. The box was checked, but just to make sure it was in the system I un-checked and saved it, then checked it and saved again. Still no dialtone on this one. No chance that this is one of those changes that requires a reset of the switch even though the manager does not call for one is it?

Thanks,
Win

If it is only with the 8 then there is another shortcode starting with 8.

This will cause this issue as you mentioned.

tlpeter and hairless,

Thanks for the clues to the puzzle. There are indeed other short codes beginning with "8". Although they do not show in the Short Code list in the Manager, they are in a User Rights configuration. If a User is assigned that set of rights, then their phone will not provide secondary dial tone when "8" is pressed for that outbound route. Other users with a different set of rights have no problems with the tone when they press "8". (All of the phones we were using for testing were assigned the rights configuration that had the 8 short codes .... go figure!!)

Thanks again Westi, tlpeter and hairless, for your input and observations.

:) always nice being right :)

I found out the hard way too so that is why i know it.
