Can't get excel to open with a blank worksheet !

When I open excel (2000) I want it to show me a blank worksheet (book1).........however, by default it is just opening the application and I then have to go to File/new to get a blamk worksheet

Where can these settings be changed ?

create a blank worksheet, save it as excel.xls, make it read only, and put shortcuts to this sheet on your start menu and desktop. only open this worksheet and use save as with a new name to save the worksheet.

Make sure your shortcut does not use any command-line switches. See faq68-1371 in this forum.
