Please help. I know very little about ip office but need to get the two analog ports to ring from an outside line on a combo card for an IP 500 R8.1 in basic mode. Can anyone give me instruction on how to do this. I have looked through the manual with no success.

Getting more than one phone to ring might be tricky though. You could try putting them in a hunt group and use that as the coverage destination, but the phones won't ring at the same time (a pity Avaya didn't add Calling groups as coverage destinations).

First set system mode as PBX mode then setup a calling group with the two analog ports as ring members, then in trunk configuration set the ringer group as the destiniation.

System > Change System Settings > System Mode : PBX System

System > Manage Hunt Groups > Calling Groups

System > Update Trunk Configurations > Coverage Destination > Calling Group

There is a special forum for Basic ( puppet ) mode :

Ah! I see it now.. the option for calling group is only available with the system in PBX mode. thanks Intrigrant! [bigsmile]

Big Tip
Dont use muppet Basic mode
it is like buying a Ferrari & then locking it in first gear

A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

A Ferrari in first gear is nervous.
A mupped mode IPO makes me nervous :)

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

My Ferrari is not that nervous in first gear :)

There is nothing wrong with muppet mode aside from it being not a challenge to install.
The best part is to train the users... there is nothing to teach them, great!
And if the customer is demanding for some special feature the answer is almost always "Not possible sir", great!
Good selling points...[thumbsdown]

Let me ask you this.

If the customer clearly states that they do not want a PBX, they do not want to dial 9 and they want all of their
analog CO Lines to appear on the all the phones, what do you offer them?

They want a telephone system that works "just like the old one".

The "old one" being an older Avaya Partner ACS that they understood and used for 15 to 20 years.

We don't, we tell them they need a Panasonic or another system designed to work that way, we don't sell a bad solution and would rather lose the sale than do that :)

"No problem monkey socks

That is why we sell Panasonic as well, that fits a customer more as a IP Office basic mode.
