I need to setup an aux ringer but I cannot get the analog port to ring on incoming lines...Is this possible or do I need to upgrade to essentials for more functionality?
Two things:
1. There was an issue somewhere along the way with basic mode and ringing analog stations
2. Is it possible that you're ringing the analog station port, but it doesn't have enough oomph to drive your ringer? Put your test set on the port and go off-hook when the aux bell should be ringing - see if you answer the call.
Essential certainly adds functionality. Basic doesn't get much attention in the fixit department.
External calls can be routed to analog stations. If you open the 'Admin Task' panel and open Trunks from there it will give you a drop down menu for 'Coverage Destination'
Coverage Destination: Default = None. System Mode = Key System
This option sets where incoming calls should alert in addition to alerting on those extension that have a line appearance button programmed for the line.
I used this for a fax extension and it worked like a charm.
A genius doesn't solve problems, he prevents them~~!!~~
One analog extension is still better than none! You can also set the VM cover rings for that analog extension to a higher number than the day or night delay in VMS settings if you want it to ring the phone and still be answered by the auto attendant.
