every time an email gets sent to one of the distribution list that we have i get the following error. i know that its a bad email address so i wanted to delete the contact from active directory but i can't find it. i tried doing normal and advance search with different parameters. i even exported the whole active directory to a CSV file but i can't find the address. any idea on how to remove the contact from AD? I’m running Windows 2003 enterprise with exchange 2003 enterprise. Thanks a lot.

Hi!
Did you try to remove the e-mail address from the distribution list?

Coudl someone be forwarding the emails to a nonexsitent address??

Run this to list all email addresses (change dc=domain, etc to your bits):
ldifde -f allproxies.txt -d "dc=domain,dc=com" -l proxyaddresses -r "(proxyaddresses=*smtp:*@*)"

We have the same problem with accounts that removed from an 5.5 exchange that was then migrated to 2003. Found this article at MS, 312433, Accepting or denying a meeting request causes a "5.1.1" non-delivery report in Exchange Server.

This seems to be a growing problem with 2003.

Let us know results please.
