Can someone tell me where I'm going wrong.

I have setup a directory of folders and sub folders where I am trying to configure the permissions for a group.
This is on a NTSF formatted drive.

Here is what I want to the group to be able to do:
Full Access on reading, writing, deleteing, etc for their own files.
Read, Write, execute on other people's files. No deleting others users files or folders.

I thought this was achived by setting the folder's preferences for the group to allow the following:
Read & Execute
List Folder Contents
Read
Write

Yet people cannot create any files in the folder. They are able to edit, read, and execute files. What do I have to do to allow users the ability to create their own files?

If i set the modify property then users are able to delete other people's files.

Thanks for any help

Are you creating a structure where each user has their own subfolder of an overall group folder? If you are then you can set the modify permission for each user on their own folder only. This will allow them to create files in their own directory and the inheritted group permissions will all the other users to view the files but not delete them. All users should then be able to modify existing files in another users folder but not delete them. If you wish to disable this then you should set the groups permissions to Read/execute which will only allow them to open files etc

Close but not exactly.

I think I'm going to end up answering my own question, but here it goes.

What I want to know is if I can set a group's permission to allow it's users to create files, and not delete other users files of the same group. So if I had user1 and user2 that were in group1. Can I set the permissions at the group level to allow user1&2 to create, read, write, etc for their own files. Yet at the same time not allow user1 to delete user2's files or vice versa.

I don't want to take on the task of setting each person's individual permissions for the folder, yet it looks like that's the only way to accomplish this.

I Got It!!

All I had to do is add Creator Owner to the folder and leave the group setting to what i had above. Thank god I spent way too much time on that one
