I have two domains setup in the same forest, and while they can both e-mail the outside world, and recieve e-mail from the outside world, they cannot seem to e-mail each other. I think it is a DNS issue because if I assign my exchange server an external(ISP) DNS it will work but then if fills up my event viewer with error messages.

Any suggestions???

Set up each domain's DNS server to host secondary zones of the other. Marc Creviere

Thank you for the reply, but I already have this setup, and it is still not working.

Any other suggestions?

Does your internal DNS have the correct MX records assigned?

Run nslookup, and type

ls -t MX domain.com

That will display all MX records for the given domain.

When I run this, this is the error that I get. I assume I should be doing this no the remote domain that I can't send mail to.

When I do it to this domain I get the following error:
*** Can't list domain domainname.org: Query refused

Thanks for your help so far...

Ok, this is just from me playing with a test system on my network, but I found that I got the same message when the DNS server I was using for my nslookup didn't allow zone transfers on that zone. I allowed zone transfers to itself and then I got the correct data returned. Why that is, I'm not sure, but it's easy enough that I'd give it a try. Let us know what happens. Marc Creviere
