Hi, I am running Word 97 and noticed that some macros have appeared, but I didn't create them. So, I have tried to delete them but the DELETE button on the Macros dialog box is greyed-out and so I can't delete them.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

May

I searched for and deleted all instances of the Normal.dot file, thinking that the macros would be stored there but it doesn't help.

I thought it might be that I don't have the correct priveledges in Windows, but I'm running Windows 98 and that doesn't have priveledges.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

May

Are these macros perhaps in the Personal macros folder?
If so, try going to the Window drop menu, selecting Unhide, and then selecting Personal. This should allow you to delete your macros (if this is the case, of course).

Thanks for the suggestion, carrr.

We tracked the problem down to a rogue scanning/OCR application which wanted to integrate with MS Word. It locked access to its own macros.
