We are in the process of installing an actual network server (Small Business Server 2003). The server is running, but not actually running the network. We need to upgrade the computers to XP Pro. We have one computer that has XP Pro that we have been using for the past 3-4 months without any problems. The user was able to get on the Internet this morning. But can no longer access the Internet. The network settings are the same and have not changed. Everyone else is running fine. This computer cannot see the network either. If you click on 'My Network Places' in Windows Explorer, no network shows up. There should be two showing; Gallina (our new network server), and Office (our current peer-to-peer network).

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Never mind people. I got it figured out. Basically we had a wireless router that we turned into an access point after getting our VPN router. Once I realized that the people have the problems were the only ones using this router, then it occured to me that was the problem. I simply unplugged and plugged it back in, and the problem seems to be solved.

"Run the Windows nework diagnostic. Start, Help and Support, on the second box on the right at the bottom is the Tools menu. Select that, select Network Diagnostics on the left, check to enable all the test boxes, have the cable plugged in, and run the tests".

Do you have connectivity from "Safe Mode with Networking"?

linney, thanks for the information.

I am having an issue with one of the computers here with XP Pro. It will not recognize the new server network. It keeps saying the DNS is invalid or something. When I go into Control Panel > System > Computer Name, and change the network from Workgroup to Domain, it pops up with a cannot connect error.

What happens if on the Domain Server you remove this machine and then add it back to the Domain?
