I've got two computers setup in a lab type environment with a crossover cable connecting the two. One is running windows 2000 advanced server and the other is running Windows NT 4.0 Server. The W2K is the PDC, Primary DNS, and Webserver. The NT 4.0 is the BDC, Secondary DNS, and Mail Server. I have configured all my DNS zones on the win2K machine and I'm trying to get the NT 4.0 machine to request a zone transfer and get all the DNS records in it's DNS as well. On the Windows NT 4.0 machine I have right clicked on server list and selected ADD NEW SERVER. I type the IP address of the W2K server and click OK. At first it gives me a red X on the added server then switches to a yellow question mark and stays like that. The message in the bottom right hand corner says connecting. The system stays just like that and nothing else happens. Can someone help. I'm really new to servers, and my company is upgrading their existing servers but I can't but these on the network at the same time as the existing servers, that's why I have them connected with a crossover cable. thanks
