Can't Close Roxio DVDs and CDs

I'm using "Roxio Easy CD / DVD Burning" Rel 9.0 (Creator Classic 9). After I move files to the CD or DVD I tell Roxio to close it for use with non-Roxio systems. Roxio says it will take 4 mins. After 4 mins, it says it is "100%" and then it gives me a message "Failed to prepare media for cd / DVD compatability". Sometimes it will do that before it hits the 100%. With DVDs, it runs for another 8 minutes after reaching "100%" and then gives the error message.

I see mention of updates from version 9.0 to version 9.1, perhaps you could go to Roxio and try that update?

You may find your solution in the Roxio Forums too?

I went to the link you suggested and saw the comments and warnings:

So I copied the files using CD Creator instead of drag-to-disk and got the same result. When I put the CD in another machine it doesn't see anything and asks if I want to format the CD.

Any more suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I came across a freeware software CDBurnerXP

Anyone have any experience with this one and knows if it is reliable for backups and can be used to restore as a regular data CD? Maybe I could use it instead of Roxio for backups.

Is this the exact message, only there are no hits around the place when googling it?

Have you checked to see if there is any Firmware update for your drive at the manufacturer's site?

About all else that comes to mind is to try Roxio Technical Support.
