Hello

I try to boot AIX from installation disk (AIX5.2), even I press F5 it still no response (actually I can't see the keyboard num lock turned on when I hear the beep sound until it boot to the HDD's OS), anyone have ideas? thanks

hi

try pressing esc + 5

Have you got an OS already installed on your machine ?

if so you can set boot list ot be cd first and reboot your machine , it should then boot from your AIX CD

Thanks DSMARWAY

I have OS installed already.

As I want to learn AIX so i want to reinstall from scratch.

Pls would you tell me where to modify the bootlist and how? Thanks very much!!

man bootlist

its just

bootllist -m ....

look into that my friend :)

alternativly you can try

diag --> select Task Selection List --> Display or Change bootlist

Regards,
Khalid

hi
Just to expand what Khaild has mentioned

to view bootlist currently set

bootlist -m normal -o

to change it

bootlist -m normal cd0 rmt0 hdisk0 hdisk1

-m normal is mode you will uses when you reboot AIX

Thanks all nice guys
I successfully used bootlist or diag to finish my task. The strange thing is it didn't work by pressing F5 or 5 or Esc+F5, don't know if it related to hardware or not.

Probably due to where your SMS console is assigned.
