Can't Backup My Documents Folder, why?

I am trying to backkup our peer-to-peer network using the backup program on our server.

For some reason no matter how I set the permissions I am not able to gain access to the My Documents folder with our backup program, or with the Win 2000 backup program on the other machines. There does not seem to be any problem seeing other folders within the Documents & Settings folder, just My Documents. The message I keep getting is "Access to this device or folder denied".

The backup program is running from our server machine, which has full administrator permissions, and has been given full share access to the My Documents folders on all the other machines. I just can't figure out why permission to access the folder is denied.

Any help would be greatly appreciate.

How about access via the security tab?

-------------------------------

If it doesn't leak oil it must be empty!!

Full access has been granted, also via the security tab. But the problem still exists.

Not running encryption on the folder are you?

It was a thought, but I'm afraid not, no incryption.

Go to the server that's doing the backing up and try to connect to the problem folder.

Hi lander215,

Even using the windows explorer produces the "Access to this device or folder denied" message. This happens with every computer on the Peer-to-peer. Even though all permissions are granted. Yet it does not happen with any other folder. I still have not found a solution since posting.

So the logon account and its corresponding password on your "server machine", exist on each of the other desktops? This account has full access to share permissions AND ntfs permissions?

Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.
