I cant add or view my favorites in IE, the favorites were there the day before. All settings in IE appear to be correct, I am able to see my favorites in the users favorites folder but they don't appear in IE. I can add and view favorites in firefox without a problem. Any Ideas??

Hi

Try clicking on "File" / "Import Export" / and directing it to the folder that your favorites are in.

I have a lot of problems with IE anymore and seem to have to remove and reinstall it regularly. (For me it will just stop responding for no reason when I try to access some web sites. When this happens Firefox always works, so who know what’s going on).

I reinstall it by going to ad remove windows components and removing it, then rebooting and going to ad remove windows components and telling it to reinstall it. This only takes a few minutes.

This usually seems to solve things for a while and it should pick up all your old settings.

Hope this helps.

Ps

You might want to download the latest version of IE from Microsoft and save it in a folder before uninstalling it.

This will avoid the updating process that will come from reinstalling it from the Windows CD.

Check this registry key:
HKey_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Explorer\User Shell Folders

It could be a Reg_SZ type and the value should be the path to the user's favorites folder; or it's a Reg_EXPAND_SZ type, the path should be %USERPROFILE%\Favorites.

If you find that it's a Reg_EXPAND_SZ type andthe path %USERPROFILE%\Favorites is correct, then open a command prompt and cd %USERPROFILE% to make sure the userprofile variable expands correctly.
