Can't add new trunk

We have a Definity G3V7c and are having a problem adding a new trunk to a trunk group. I added the trunk to a trunk group and did the cross-connect to port 01A0407 but I get ring no answer when I try to use it. If I remove a cross connect from an existing trunk in port 01A0406 and connect the new trunk to that location on the punch down block and setup this in the trunk group then it works. It appears that any ports that are already working will work with the new trunk, but any ports that I have not used yet do not work with the new trunk or the existing trunks.

I tried busy/release on the trunk and that did not help. Is there any settings any other place in the system to enable new ports to be recognized.

Have you exceeded your RTU ports? When it's added to your trunk group can you direct select the port using the facility access code? to use this number you need to change your COR.

I do not believe that I have exceeded my RTU ports because I don't think it would have let me add the port to the Trunk group if I did.

Not sure what you mean when you say "direct select the port using the facility access code". Can you please explain this.

What kind of trunk you are tring to add?
If it is a co trunk take a look at the attached thread i think it will help you, if not make sure that you copy the COS and COR from the working trunks.

It is a co trunk - pots line. I am trying to add it to an existing trunk group. Thanks for the link, but I had already looked through that - everything appears to be punched down correctly. Any other suggestions?

Is this line programmed like the other lines? My thinking here is that the group you have now may be ground start trunks and this new line isn't. Maybe a loop start? To test these type trunks (ground start)

1. I would pull the bridging clips off.
2. Take an old jumper wire and strip both ends. Attach one end to a ground.
3. With one end of this to a good ground, and you butt set on the new line touch end other end of your jumper to the tip side (I believe) and see if you here dial tone.

I think the new line must be programmed like the other lines because it works if I disconnect the patch for one of the other lines and patch the new line into the port location where an existing line is.

It just doesn't work when I try to patch the new line into a location for a port that isn't currently in use. After I do this, I add the new port into the trunk group, but I keep getting ring no answer.

What happens to the existing, functioning trunk if you move it to 01A0407 from 01A0406? It could be that 01A0407 is bad...Do you have another CO trunk card you can connect to?

When I moved the functioning trunk from 01A0406 to 01A0407 it does not work. And, if I move the new tunk to 01A0406 it does work. I figured out the problem and it's working now. The feed to the punch-down block was wired incorrectly. After noticing this, I patched the new line in to the correct location based on the wiring and it is working ok now.
