We are having a problem with users being unable to access shares on a W2k server. They can't access by \\servername or \\servername\path or printer subsystems. net view \\servername command produces error 53.
Users experiencing the issue are:
[UL]
[li]getting a path not found error[/li]
[li]on a different subnet[/li]
[li]able to ping the server by netbios name and IP address[/li]
[li]able to browse to shares by IP address[/li]
[li]able to browse to netbios name only after browsing by IP address first[/li]
[li]unable to access again after a reboot[/li]
[li]unable to initially browse by netbios name unless browsing by IP address first[/li]
[/UL]
Initially we though routing problem since it was only affecting subnets other than the subnet the server is on. That didn't seem to make sense since it was only affecting netbios names and not IP addresses. So we figured it was a WINS issue. So we refreshed the WINS info on the problem server. Issue still persists.
Any ideas/insights would be appreciated. Thanks.
