I have 3 machines on our network and all 3 machines are not accessible to domain administrators. They are running win98, NT server and Win2000 Server OS. When I checked those machines, I noticed that all of them are part of a workgroup named “engineering”, which is also name of our domain. Their workgroup and our domain have same name. I need to have access to those machines on my network (I don’t care if they are part of domain or not and I already have local admin access). Any input appreciated.

Thanks

In a workgroup, local admin access is the only type of access you can have.. It sounds like you are already setup.

Thank You. You are right, but I was wondering if there is anything that I should know about a case where workgroup and domain have same name. Is there anything special about that case?

Thank You

There is nothing special about that setup. Since a Domain and a Workgroup operate 2 seperate ways, it will not hurt anything.
