I cannot use any external commands, its says "not recognized as internal or external commands"

any idea?

Your path statement is incorrect.

Right-click My Computer, Properties, Advanced, Environmental Variables, and in the lower box highlight the path variable, and click edit.

The following must be in the path (although likely other values are there as well):
%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;

These things are there in Path variable.

Bickyz,

But you have to make sure these executables are still there. Can you not use search to locate them just to make sure?

Run REGEDIT and go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment
Check that Value Name:=Path has Data Type:=REG_EXPAND_SZ

Or a simpler solution : change %SystemRoot%\system32 to
c:\winnt\system32 in the Path.

Thanks very much for all helps. i did what panderson said....
