Hi guys!!!

First I would like to appologize for posting this question refering to Win98 also here, where XP issues are supposed to be discussed. The reason is: I dont have time to wait until somebody goes to the section of the old Win98. So if it does not disturb you too much and you feel you can give me an advice with my problem, just post a reply. OK?:)

Please help me detect the flash card from "tiny disk" with 512Mb on win98. It is very important, for I have some important data there, and my lap top has Win 98 (the lap top is real rubbish but I do not have any other at the moment. I have installed a flash driver for Win 98, which I found on the Net, it says driver installed successfully, but I still cannot see the disk... WHAT SHOULD I DO? I need it! I really dont like this win 98...:(

Thank U!

If you know someone with XP, perhaps you could see if that can read your data, and then write it to CD or something 98 can access (E-mail or floppy if no CD to access important data) . XP incorporates a multitude of drivers and you may not have any problems.

Otherwise you are going to need the correct drivers, and the hardware manufacturer is you best chance.

These are XP articles but might offer some clues.

314634 - Windows XP Does Not Detect Your New USB Device

why doesnt xp pro recognize usb drives after installing SP1?

This was a recent article from Fred Langa.

"In the new column (we'll look at (1) connecting USB devices to non-USB systems;
(2) connecting non-USB devices to USB-equipped systems; and
(3) getting the software drivers that can enable USB devices to work in almost any OS--- including DOS.

By the time we're done, you'll be able to connect just about any USB and non-USB devices and systems, regardless of port type or OS type! Click over to and check it out!"

This is from a lost or withdrawn post.

Is this a "multi-slot" reader that mounts in a case "bay"? My ECS mobo has a special header (uses an adapter that comes with the reader) on the board just for a "reader". The mobo has 6 other USB ports built in (on the back of the mobo). The reason I bring this up is, if you plug into the "special" header, it dis-ables USB 1 on the backplane. Found this after much research (yes - it is explained in the manual!).

Thanx! Found an XP. But Ill have to work with this flash drive on my 98. The flash drive is called Tiny Disk (512Mb, usb 2.0), and I dont have a CD with it, that one would call a driver CD.
Please help! if U find the driver for this stupid Tiny Disk. I googled it but there appears there is no site of this brand, company where I could get their driver...

You might google for and try
NUSB22.EXE - supposed to be a universal port for W98SE
I installed it on an older Dell Inspiron lapton and it
did work as advertised.

Actually I have Win98, not 98SE unfotunately, but Ill still try the driver. Thanx!:)

And also, my Win98 DID detect the flash, but asks for the driver.. which I do not have.
Googled the NUSB22.EXE and saw this:
Only for Windows 98SE English !!!
Native (without installation of additional drivers
for each type) support USB flash drives, digital
photo and videocameras and other similar devices.
Remember! You install it at own risk!
Before installation remove ALL of driver
USB flash drivs, available in system.
What's new?
1.Fixed bug "USB Diagnostic Device"
2.New devices are added.

Why does this happen to me?!!!;-)

No, they arent mine... Generic perhaps, but THIS is the flash name - Tiny Disk USB 2.0 512Mb. The ones you have suggested I have already seen - google gave this site, but thats "Pretec" not "Tiny Disk". I think its weird that this brand has no internet site that could be found by google when entering Tiny Disk...

Well, I cheered too early about the flash drive price (25% less than an LG 512Mb flash drive)... way too early.:(

Thanx anyway!:)

Can you trace the actual manufacturer by contacting the shop you purchased it from? They may be a warranty or refund if you are unable to use it?

Yeah, I guess thats what remains to do in this case... Right now I am just in a different country from the one I purchased the drive, but I will go there in several days.

Thanx to everyone! We did everything that was possible to do.
