Hi, I'm having problems integrating a W2K machine onto an WinNT4 server network.
The W2K machine seems to be sending packets out onto the network but it cannot see the Domain.
I've tried registering the name of the WS onto the server as an NT4 workstation, but I'm having no luck!!
Any ideas please?

First, make sure you can ping your PDC and BDC. If not, you probably have a network setup error.

If you can, delete the account you created for the PC off the BDC and make sure replication has occurred before continuing.

Right-click "My Network Places" and select "Properties"

Click "Network Identification" in the left pane

Click "Properties"

Set the computer name to something unique (thats why wait until replication has occurred)

then fill in the domain info at the bottom.

Click OK

With NT you used to have to change the name, reboot, then change the domain then reboot again. W2K will allow you to do both at once (it actually does them one at a time for you). Its a little slow but works.
