I've had a similar problem. I was trying to create a new user, but kept getting the error message "User account already exists." I know this has nothing to do with printers, but when I did a search, I found the account in another folder. Brontosaurus is correct, you can go and search his method, or if you have AD open you can search there. Would dearly love to know why things get hidden, even when you have advanced features selected in AD. Glen A. Johnson

START, SEARCH, FOR PRINTERS, click FIND NOW, works on the DC, but not on client side.
If I try to add a printer, I have 2 choice Active Directory search or go directly on the server where the printer is define. When I pick AD search no printers are found.
I configure printer to be listed in directory (check box in printer share properties)
They are there, but in AD users and computers you need to go to view and enable view as containers, the printers will show when you click on the server that is set as the print server.
If the clients want to browse, you add printer on the client select network printer, on the resulting screen there will be three check boxes. Pick the middle one, and without inputting the printer name click next to browse to the printers, then click on the print server and the printers should show.
Another way is to have IIS running on the print server, and from the clients open internet explorer and input the servers name/printers. (example: servers name is acme so from the browser type in
You'll get a listing of all the printers, and select the one you want, then select connect. This will install the printer for you on w2k pro machines. One of the neatest things ms came up with as far as printers and the os. Glen A. Johnson

I alreary install lots of printers, everything works fine,
I'm just suprised to see that the AD printer search doesn't work on client side. There's some good option to select what kind of printers the client need (duplex mode, etc.)
I have to install IIS before accessing the printers from the browser.
