I installed voice announcement Manager v2.x.x. on my Xp PC then rebooted. When I try to launch it now, I get an error: Unable to find VAL_PATH environment variable.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice now with no luck. FYI - I had also installed ASA from the same CD and it works fine.

Any ideas? Yes I have Admin rights to my PC.

Thanks

Does anyone have a quarter, I need to make a phone call?

I have val mgr 2.x.x installed in my xp and it works just fine. I'm not sure why yours is not working. you may want to remove all associated files (folder, registry..etc) and try installing again. Maybe you can install it to another folder and see what happens. It may have corrupted something, just cant tell you what.

I have no technical solution to your management problem

Ya I did this again and now it seems to work but catch this, the ASA that was on the same CD; everytime I reboot it disappears completely from my Program file extension and gets corrupted. I have to reinstall it each time, weird. Anyway today it has been stable so far, so hopefully it is fianlly installed.

Thanks for the help.

Hi,

I had exactly the same problem running ASA version 2.0
I did an upgrade to ASA 2.1 and afterwards my VAL manager works perfectly.

Ok I shot off my mouth and now I am paying the price. The VAL Software has started the error again.
error: Unable to find VAL_PATH environment variable
Only this time I cannot get it to work at all.

Anyone know the exact reg keys to delete, maybe I missed one, any ideas what I should do to get this to work without chucking my pc out the window? I tried upgrading off the Avaya site but nope.

thanks

did you check your environment variables fo a VAL_PATH entry?

control panel -> system -> Advanced -> Environment Variables
then check the system variables for a VAL_PATH entry.
if not present, select new and enter VAL_PATH for the variable name and the path to the val install for the variable value (C:\Program Files\Avaya\Voice Announcement Over LAN Manager on my system)

shaneymc - Thanks
