Cannot restore Exchange Databases

I'm trying to restore an exchange database back to another machine, we recreated the exchange server and verified, however we try to restore the databases, the error logs states E8562 failed to receive data from the database agent EC 10054

We are running AS 11.0 on a windows2000 SP4

Hi,

What version of Exchange?

Was the original backup done locally? if not , was a Windows Client agent used to backup the Exchange server?

How is the Restore being performed? thru the Windows client agent?

Exchange 2000, latest Service Pack. it was backed up on a remote machine and we have tried to restore to both another machine and the server as well.
