I've looked over many posts and have found a few that seem related to my issue but none have fixed it.
Our company has replaced the manager in the safety department. To give him all permissions and access to folders etc. that the previous manager had, I just renamed the old manager's domain account (safety1 to safety2)and changed the password. When saftey2 logs in he gets all settings as the prior safety1. XP recognizes "safety2" as the user with his name at the top of the start menu, Outlook is connected to "safety2" mailbox (after a disconnect and reconnect to exchange mailbox), the user is connected to his user folder on the network "safety2". However, his profile folder under documents and settings is still "safety1". I know this makes no difference, everything functions as it should, the world is still turning etc. BUT...this user is adament that he is still being identified as the previous manager, even though he is the only one who sees this folder and identifier.
I have tried procedures that I have found various places on the net to rename this profile folder (safety 1 to safety2) and change the registry pointer to the newly named folder. however when I try to rename the folder, I get a system error saying the folder cannot be rename because it is either in use or write protected. Other posts that seem related to this issue have been for a local account, this is a domain account.
any ideas?
