The C:\Documents and Settings\Sean folder is shared on my son's account and I cannot remove the share. The option to uncheck the box for "Share this folder on the network" is greyed out. And although the folder is supposedly shared, no other PCs on the network can access it. Any ideas?

How are you logged on??? Try logging as you son and right click this folder & check properties. As it is his folder, things should not be 'greyed out'

OK I found the problem. When logged on to his account he had shared the folder on the network but also checked the box for "Make this folder private". XP apparently lets the two settings conflict.
