Hi there, I've got an HP deskjet printer hooked up to a JetDirect 170x card and that is on the network.

I cant print to it anymore, and I could last week, absolutely nothing has changed, no patches, no updates, nothing.

I have switched the jetdirect cards with a known working jetdirect card to make sure that it wasnt that, and it still didnt work.
I set it up locally attached to LPT1 and it worked just fine.

I have downloaded the latest drivers for the printer, that didnt work, stopped and restarted the printer spooler service on the server... Nothing.

Any ideas?

Oh, I have also tried not printing through the server, setting up a new TCP/IP port from a PC, that didnt work either.

It didnt work with the working card either.

how does the jetdirekt card obtain it´s ip (does it get one)?
do u see the printer in printer-manager?

Well, I think I just narrowed it down a bit.

I can ping the IP address, which I assigned the card, but when I go into the JetDirect webpage thingy, the printer says it is offline.

I see a few other people with the same issue, but no fixes yet.

can u access the card through http?
check the printer settings that is not doing any 'power save' as it may be turning of the card.
has anyone manually set the printer off line? Can you get into the printer from server and set it back online?

I've checked all of that and everything was set to online, i could access it through the card and all that stuff.

The way I fixed it was to trade printers with someone. I plugged in an 870 in place of the 970 and it works fine. I have no idea what was wrong.

hey what ever works right? ;-)
All the best!
