Hello There,

Can anyone help with a problem i have printing off a large PDF file.

I have a collection of printers in the office, some small, some large and no problems with any.

This was the case until a 17MB, 89 Page Acrobat PDF file arrived.

When you print the entire document no printer will print anything, nothing comes out at the printer!

When you print the first 10 pages, some print them ok but others print nothing?

Does anyone know why this could happen?

Any help would be greatly appreiated.

Many Thanks.

1. Your printer could simply be running out of room trying to process your file - not because of the file size, but because of the complexity of the items in it. Try just printing small batches - I find it's faster to let the printer rip a few pages & print them than it is for the printer to read the entire thing & then print it all. I've printed single page pdfs which are much larger with no problem, but print magazine proofs in batches.

2. There could be a corrupt font or file on one of the pages. I had a similar problem with the above magazine when I discovered that one of the pages would not print until I fixed one of the ads on it. I figured out where the printer was choking, printed everything up to and after that particular page, and then had to delete everything & add items back one at a time until I figured out where the problem was.

Here's another suggestion: Try Re-distilling the PDF file to reduce it's size.

Open the PDF in Acrobat. Then: File>Save As >.ps file

Then, Re-Distill that .ps file into a new, smaller PDF.

Knock and the door shall be opened unto you. Seek and ye shall find! [peace]

I love Mondays cause they're the Second day of the week!
