i'm running windows 2000 professional
but i'm having probs turning off the computer
everytime i shut down,
the keyboard's lights will be off but
the monitor will still show the message
it is now safe to turn off your computer
i tried to press the off button but it doesn't
work
i can only shut down when i press reset
and turn press the off button..
anyone here have any similar probs?

If the Advanced Power Management mode is enabled go to the device manager and from the view menu select "show hidden devices".  NT APM/legacy support should appear. Just
enable it and hopefully your problem will be solved. Let me know if that works for you. In a world without walls and fences, who needs Windows and Gates?

Until then you can hold in on the power button for about ten seconds and it should shut off.

Also check the power option advanced settings in the control panel. You might have it set to stand-by as opposed to power off.

There may also be a switch in the BIOS for autopoweroff, check for that... Just in case ;-)

thanks for all the suggestions :)
i've tried tourists mehthod and it works
the computer autoshuts down now
a million thanks!

Always glad to be of service ;-) In a world without walls and fences, who needs Windows and Gates?
