hi,
I have a pie chart with data labels and lines.
when I try to move one a fraction, it takes it outside of the pie chart area, or to the other side of the chart.

can anyone advise?

thanks,
Matt

In all honesty, this is one of the crappy things about Crystal, especially v9. The chart labels are a pain to line up. Try messing around with the chart size and the pie object size. Other than that, I've sat for hours trying to get the labels to line up properly, until being very meticulous and careful with mouse movement, was finally able to get the label in an acceptable position.

It seems that I must be doing something very wrong though,
as I can move the label just a couple of pixels, and it will shoot off and disappear outside of the pie chart area, over half a page away!

No, Crystal is doing something very wrong. Like a lot of modern software, it assumes that it knows what you want and does it for you. This works fine for as long as you're not doing something that the software writers didn't expect or didn't test for.

Good software ought to have a Bowman Option, the option to tell the software to do what it's told without trying to second-guess.

I use cristal 8.5 and if I'm in the preview window, I can right click on the report and select "Chart Analyzer" it will let me move the fields to where ever I like.
Have you tried that?
